Story
An appeal to protect Oxfordshire's iconic landscape...
You are probably aware of the iconic Wittenham Clumps – these hills, the ‘crowning glory’ of this landscape and much loved by local people, have stood proudly above us for thousands of years and during this time have seen and been a part of significant change. Hopefully you will have visited the ‘Clumps’, as they are known locally, to admire the stunning panoramic views of the countryside and the River Thames below; children love tearing down the steep slopes (on sledges in winter!) and in early summer people stroll among the wildflower meadows and on into the shade of the adjoining Little Wittenham Wood, which is teaming with wildlife.
What you might not realise is that the Wittenham Clumps are just the ‘tip of the the iceberg’ when compared to the wonderful landscape that the Earth Trust looks after and the important work we carry out. To keep it special we rely on public support so that the Wittenham Clumps will be here for you and your family to enjoy, today, tomorrow and in the future.
The Earth Trust is working hard to protect our countryside and help people connect with the environment and the natural world. But we can’t do this without donations from people like you.
Your donation could help us plant up the wildflower meadows on our new River of Life wetland nature reserve... Or support our internationally acclaimed forestry research and help us learn more about ash dieback... Or help us extend our Food for the Future project, which is helping people get on the farming ladder... Or help fund school visits so the next generation can learn more about this iconic landscape and its importance...
The money raised through this appeal will directly support our work, here beneath the Clumps in Little Wittenham, and on our other community nature reserves across South Oxfordshire.
Thank you for your support.
