In December 2011, I found myself being assaulted and suffering shoulder damage that forced me not to play any contact sport. Over the months I found myself ballooning to nearly 19st.  At the age of 50 looming in the distance I had to do something about it! Thats when I started cycling, having never ridden a bike before, I bought one to help lose weight.

After a year & half cycling, I have now lost 31/2 stone and ride regularly.  At this point Steve Tyler approached me and asked if I would like to raise funds for ELY through my cycling.  Having time to think about what to do, I have chosen to cycle John O'Groats to Lands End.  Why? because its there!

I approached Dale Morris to see whether he would like to join me on this challenge and I am happy to say there is now 7 of us cycling, with a back up crew over our journey.  We will cycle 900+ miles over 6 days, with myself riding 150 miles per day, the rest of the team will share the 150 miles a day. 

On hearing the news of Emma's untimely death, my heart went out to Ange & Steve.  I could not comprehend what they were going through.  Em was a kind and genuine person with a most friendly smile.  After hearing of the anguish that Ange & Steve had over her funeral costs and hearing that they had started a Charity in Em's name, I wanted to help their cause. This fundraising event will hopefully raise essential funds so that the Charity are able to help relieve some of the worries for other families in Herefordshire, who sadly, may suffer the same loss. I know while undertaking this challenge, which is the biggest challenge of my life so far, nowhere will it be as big as theirs, Em will be with us, guiding us and always in our thoughts.
