Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In light of recent tragedies in both Orkney waters and in the Western Isles, to support the good work that the Fishermen's Mission carry out, very often quietly and behind the scenes, we are taking part in two seperate fundraising events in June.
1. Myself, my three half brothers, David, Magnus and Erlend Currie and father George are carrying out a sponsored trek up Ben Nevis (Erlend's idea!) on June 11th. It will be a challenge as its the biggest mountain in the UK, and will take between an estimated 6-9 hours, hiking to a height of 1346m.
2. I had the idea for the sponsored 75 mile 'Pentland Firth Cycle Challenge' and Roy Norquoy, recently appointed joint Fishermen's Mission Port Officer for Orkney is delighted to take part in it as well as myself.
On Saturday June 25th we are planning to cycle from Kirkwall to St Margaret's Hope, catch the Pentland Ferries early morning (7.45) sailing to Gills Bay, cycle to John o Groats, then Wick, then on to Scrabster in time to catch the evening (7pm) NorthLink ferry to Stromness, then cycle back to Kirkwall.
All sponsor money from both events goes to the Mission, and all support is very much appreciated.
