Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ethan is my 14 year old boy and suffers from a rare genetic disease called tuberous sclerosis, has uncontrolled epilepsy and is on the autistic spectrum. At times, I find Ethan's epilepsy difficult to deal with as a "good day" means he will have at least 5 seizures in a day. A not so good day will be around 15 seizures. Ethan' s condition currently has no cure.
As a parent, I have been on an emotional rollercoaster since his birth and he makes me so proud as a dad with his resilience. But sometimes I need help to deal with his issues.
Dundee Carers Centre is a local charity and an invaluable resource to people like me and my family. The Centre provide support, guidance, assistance and signposting for me and my boy and do so for many people like us in Dundee.
The Carers Centre provide many services but recently I have benefitted from the Counselling Service provided. Many of us Carers can go through a hard time watching the people we care for suffer on a daily basis. The Counselling Service gives us someone that can listen, provide support and give us coping strategies to deal with our own health and the person we care for. The Counselling Service has helped me twice in life and given me a massive help in my role as a dad and a carer.
I'd like to give them something back so time to chuck myself in the Tay.
For many people, this could be pretty straightforward stuff but I hate water, have a fear of drowning, don't like being wet with even a few drops of rain and I hate being cold! But I'm up for the challenge!!
