We promote sustainable beekeeping to combat poverty in developing countries

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2017 I'll be running the London marathon for Bees for Development.

I could give you all the lines about the work they do with promoting beekeeping benefits not just the individual apiarist as a way to provide an income but also helps the wider community due to the pollination of crops for others and also by encouraging bee-keeping and giving someone a job it promotes self- reliance as well as self worth to those who might otherwise feel themselves to be a drain on their family.
I could say give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish and he can feed himself for a lifetime. Or the work they do makes the enviroment and income sustainable for those in the communities enabling them to grow, and while these are all true the biggest reason I'm doing it is because I want my kids to look at me and say 'My dad is awesome. If he can do that at his age so can I' I want them to know that they live in a world where anything is possible but that world won't be possible without bees. So I'm going to train hard, run fast, hopefully raise lots of money to help the charity and try to inspire my kids.

About the charity

Bees ensure the maintenance of biodiversity and enable people to improve their livelihoods. We ensure beekeepers working in poor countries have access to the information and advice they need. For example, how to market honey, manage indigenous bees sustainably, or plant trees useful for bees.
