Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you will have heard about the wonderful charity 2 Wish Upon A Star – it was set up a few years ago by an incredible woman called Rhian Burke. Rhian and Paul Burke's one year old son, George, passed away on 22 February 2012 three hours after suffering a sudden fit at the family home. Paul, a friend of mine from university, fell to his death just five days later after being unable to cope with the devastating loss. Shortly after these tragic events, Rhian set up the charity “2 Wish Upon A Star” to raise money to help others overcome family traumas. Rhian believes that Paul would still be alive today if he had received immediate trauma counselling.
Since then, the Charity has made enormous strides towards achieving its goals:
- To ensure every A and E Department in Wales has suitable bereavement suites for bereaved relatives
- Bereavement boxes are available for parents at each of these
hospitals - Immediate bereavement support is available for parents and siblings
- To provide a professional counselling service for bereaved parents

Back in 2013 I took part in the inaugural 2 Wish Upon A Star “Wickets n Wheels” 110 mile cycle ride from the village of Miskin near Cardiff to Taunton. I had hoped to raise £500. In the end, you amazing people helped me to get to nearly £2,500.
This time I am going to have a go at running. I have entered the Cardiff Half Marathon on 2 October 2016 and the Manchester Half Marathon on 16 October 2016. I know this is not as impressive as doing a full marathon in one go but I am going to try just as hard as well as ticking off the Cardiff 10k and Swansea 10k during September as part of my training! I appreciate that many other of your friends and colleagues will have undertaken fundraising activities in recent times so thank you in advance for your generosity in whatever form it comes.
