Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 11 September 2016 I'll be taking on the largest half marathon in the world. I've been regularly avoiding running for about 30 years but last year my wife completed the Great North Run and inspired me to get off my bum.
I can honestly say I am scared but really excited too. I completed a 0-5k training scheme before Christmas and the training will ramp up further over the coming months.
Why Hall Green Retired Greyhound Trust? Well, I'm a Lead Volunteer with Hall Green Retired Greyhound Trust (HG RGT); a group of people committed to finding homes for retired greyhounds who raced at Hall Green Stadium in Birmingham.
The seeds of my involvement with HG RGT were planted over 6 years ago when my wife and I bought a house and decided to get a dog. My wife had seen HG RGT at an awareness and dragged me along to see the greyhounds.
"I want a Collie. Okay (I conceded), a greyhound. But not a black one. Except that black one.." - which is where Max aka 'Supreme Harmison' came on scene and began his programme of "greynopsis" - that's greyhound hypnosis.
Now fully indoctrinated to the life of a greyhound i help socialise newly retired racers and prepare them for re-homing, place retired racers into loving and responsible homes and raise people’s awareness about the true nature of these wonderful dogs.
By making a donation you'll be helping me to the finish but more importantly you'll be supporting the work of HG RGT, one of 70 branches of the Retired Greyhound Trust who strive for the day when all 9,000 of the dogs who retire each year find loving homes.
