Story
Just over 18 months ago, my eldest daughter Elise, was near the end of a six month chemotherapy treatment plan, having undergone minor and major surgery for liver cancer. She was diagnosed at 3 years of age. Her last operation was in August 2015 and today she is cancer free, enjoying her first year at school and has celebrated her 5th birthday with her family, friends and best of all, cheeky 17 month old sister, Isla. We feel so grateful to all that have helped, supported and encouraged us through what is undoubtedly every parents worst nightmare. Receiving news your child has cancer is a cruel, uncertain and frightening journey, and too many young lives are taken by this deadly disease far too soon. A couple of months from now, I shall be running the GREAT NORTH RUN on the 11th September with my very good friend Lynsey Jordan, for Milly's Smiles. This is a charity set up by a wonderful family we met on Ward 84 at RMCH. Their beautiful daughter Milly put up an incredibly brave fight, but sadly passed away September 2015. Diagnosed in November 2014, 1 week before my Elise, Milly should have been in her final year at the primary school Elise was about to start in September 2015. Instead this wonderful, brave little girl was undergoing extensive treatment for an aggressive form of leukaemia, at only 11 years of age. Whilst doing this her school friends, friends and family were raising a lot of money for RMCH and BMTU, which kept her smiling, as many ideas for fundraising were hers. Now her family are continuing this phenomenal work in full fighting force. Please help me to raise as much money as I can to help Milly's family long continue what young Milly started. Milly was never without a smile, please help them put a smile on children's faces fighting their own cancer battle, and provide support and comfort to families in many long hours of need. It's such a steep and cruel learning curve in such a short time, and surprisingly sad how quickly that cruel journey becomes normal life. Please visit Milly's Website www.millyssmiles.org and Facebook page Milly's Smiles to learn more and see what this fabulous inspirational child started and has already achieved. From a parent who truly understands first hand how important your work is, Thank you Milly and family. Please help me do them proud xxxx
