Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Waterloo Foodbank provides three day's worth of emergency food to those in need. In the last year it provided food for over 2,000 people in Lambeth and Southwark, including 800 children.
Food is very generously donated by individuals and local businesses, and a huge team of volunteers from the local community and churches make the whole thing happen. But we still need to fund basic running costs, including one member of staff (who runs the Foodbank, Debt Advice Centre, and a new Credit Union. We are nothing if not resource-efficient!) Funding for this post runs out in August, so we're raising money to secure the future of the Foodbank.
For 3 days in Lent I'll be using a Foodbank list to buy the same items that one person is given for a three-day emergency parcel, and eating only that. It's not a huge personal challenge ... but it's a small opportunity to experience what the Foodbank provides, and a great chance to raise much-needed funds. If you can spare something, please do make a donation - you will be helping to support local families in crisis.
If you're up for the challenge yourself - check out the details here: http://www.southbankchurches.org/lent-foodbank-challenge/
Thank you!
