Story:

Weʼre raising £1,000 to give money to our two charities: The Mark Evison Foundation and Contact The Elderly, by undertaking a difficult challenge.

The Two Busketeers:

We are Ashley and Danny, both 16 years old, and we plan to cycle around Normandy and raise money for our two charities Contact The Elderly and the Mark Evison Foundation by travelling from town to town, busking on a pre-planned route.

We will be visiting the historically important sites of the Normandy beaches, which helped liberate Europe in WW2. We want to demonstrate of thesehistorically important locations.

The Mark Evison Foundation (www.markevisonfoundation.org) is ground-breaking as it gives young (and, potentially, less fortunate) people an opportunity to develop both physically and mentally by undertaking chosen demanding challenges. We believe that only through undertaking difficult tasks can you develop : “life begins at the end of your comfort zone” – Neale Donald Walsch.

We will also be raising money for the charity ‘Contact The Elderly’
(www.contact-the-elderly.org.uk). Contact The Elderly is a nationwide charity designed to aid elderly people aged 75 and over who may be in social isolation. Contact The Elderly won the ‘Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Volunteering Award 2012’. The charity attempts to help through monthly tea parties, and other larger events. Danny has been heavily involved with Contact The Elderly since he was nine years old, and we strongly believe in the cause; the elderly can easily find themselves in a situation of isolation which is a major risk factor for depression.

When playing, we want to show our deep passion for jazz while physically and mentally challenging ourselves, all for great causes. We have often performed as a jazz duo , and our musical styles and our outputs on life compliment each other. Busking / public performance brings out the boundless improvisation style of jazz, which we both cherish so much, whilst captivating those around us.

We would most appreciative if you could donate to our campaign, and if not, if you could share our campaign.

Thanks,

Ashley Austin, Danny Piers.
