Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in memory of Daphne Smith, 1917-2012. Like so many people of her generation, Daphne was deprived of the opportunity for further education. Had she gone to university she would very likely have read maths or science. She was a competent and enthusiastic mathematician. Any mistakes she might have made in household accounts would definitely have been on the word side rather than the figures side. The idea of a charity to encourage young people to study these subjects which are so vitally important to the country would have greatly appealed to her.
