Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2016 Mk Marathon to raise funds for Stoke Mandeville Hospital's Cystoscopy Suite.

15 years ago, at the ripe old age of 21, I was diagnosed with a cancerous bladder tumour. Luckily the tumour was caught early and the tumour was successfully removed through an operation.

The initial diagnosis was confirmed by a procedure called a flexible cystoscopy. This procedure allows the doctors to insert a camera in to the bladder, and check for issues. Since the successful removal of the tumour, this procedure has been used for the last 15 years to ensure I have not suffered a recurrence. In January 2016, I was given the all clear from the Cystoscopy Suite at SMH for the final time, before being discharged from their care. To thank the department for their care over the years, I would like to raise funds to help them continue to help others, through diagnosis and prevention of cancer, in and around the bladder.

Any amount of money no matter how small, can help towards keeping the department doing such great work, and potentially make other patients visits more comfortable.

Whilst research is at the heart of fighting cancer, diagnosis, analysis and regular observation are every bit as crucial for those who are fighting, or have fought this disease. Hopefully with your help, we can aid the work of the department, in the ongoing fight against bladder cancer.

Please help this old man complete his challenge!!

Thank you
