Story
I am completing a 3part Challenge for Action for M.E in June, which consists of the following:
8th June - Tough Mudder (10-12 Mile course devised by the Special Forces, containing 20-25 Obstacles. www.toughmudder.co.uk)
19th June - Tandem Skydive 13000ft www.ukskydiving.com
21st June - 160ft Bungee Jump @ O2. Via www.virginexperiencedays.co.uk
In August 2012 I lost my Mum to Cancer, she was only 55. She only survived for 10months from first diagnosis.
From the age of 40 my Mum had suffered from M.E. M.E. is a chronic, fluctuating illness affecting 250,000 people in the UK. It may be diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS). M.E. symptoms may include persistent exhaustion, muscle and/or joint pain, sleep disturbance, feeling ’flu-like and having problems with memory and concentration.
It drastically changed her life, taking her from a young energetic woman to someone who was constantly suffering from exhaustion and frustrating memory difficulties.
Due to the weakness of her immune system, when she was diagnosed with Cancer her body was not strong enough to withstand any treatment which could have prolonged her life.
When I asked my mum if one day I raised money in her name would she prefer it to be for Cancer or M.E she replied M.E. Which to me showed how badly it affected her life over the years.
I have fully paid for all 3 events so all money raised goes directly to the charity. They provide information and support, while campaigning for better services and more effective treatment for an illness that receives no government funding. www.actionforme.org.uk/get-informed
I have tried to find the hardest challenges for me to face in memory of my mum, which I feel I have achieved due to my huge fear of heights.
So please donate to an illness that drastically changes lives of the old and the young but receives no funding.
Thank you
