Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I started out in quad racing 8 years ago I soon realised that the ladies were more than capable of putting us to shame. One such lady was Beverley Barnes, I came to respect (and sometimes curse) Bev's determination and will to succeed and I was soon left in the dust as Bev moved on up to the Pro class and went on to both quad and downhill success.
The list of Bev's success is more than impressive.
Weston ladies champ 2006/07/08/09. QRA ladies champ 2007/08/09. Great 8 ladies champ 2009. PDV 2nd ladies 2010/ 1st ladies 2011.
Started downhill in 2012, British ladies non elite champ 2013, 2nd non elite ladies champ 2014. Moved up to elite ladies in 2015.
Bev's accident at Easter has unfortunately left her paralysed from the chest down and still receiving treatment in Cardiff. I decided to try and help in some way which is where I am now. Attempting the great 8 as Iron-Man on a Suzuki LT500r. ( For those of you that don't know the Great 8 is an 8 hour quad endurance race and a LT 500r is a 2 stroke quad that so far I've only ridden for a maximum of 45min stints!!!! Trust me it's gonna hurt.)
I was put in touch with Mark and Emma (who started Friends of Huck) after it was suggested that they might be able to help Bev and I have to say that they've been fantastic with offers of help with whatever Bev might need now or in the future. Please check out the "Friends of Huck" Facebook page to read about Mark's personal battle and the fundraising that has been done to be able to help seriously injured riders and cancer sufferers.
