Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi All,
Our father has fought his battle valiantly through his cancer since the 7th of August 2014, his day of diagnosis, and was only given an average 6 months to a year to live. He continued to fight this until the 30th of August 2016, surpassing all of our expectations and hitting every milestone he had wanted to since being told his cancer was terminal.
He was full of optimism, positivity and charm, and never felt pity or sorrow for himself or the situation that was thrust upon him. He was a light to us all during a very dark time and his personality shone through, even when his illness tried to engulf him. He is truly an inspiration to those who are battling anything in their lives, no matter what your struggle may be and taking away from this situation put upon us all is a lifetimes worth of memories that we will all cherish forever.
During the last year of his battle, he was fortunate enough to be in the care of Michael Sobell Hospice on and off and he has explicitly stated many-a-time, that if it was not to be home where he was to pass, then Michael Sobell Hospice was just as good for him. The care and the passion that the Nurses and Doctors have shown towards our dad has been incredible, the time taken to diagnose all of his further symptoms, the hours spent conversing with him, entertaining him and vice versa, it was like we were a family and nothing was too much of them. Towards the end of Dads life whilst we were staying there over night they couldn't offer us enough, in terms of support, but also in terms of home comforts; teas, coffees, toast... nothing is too much for the team there.
So we ask, that instead of buying flowers and sending them to us, please spend this money on donations to the hospice, to thank them for easing the pain in any which way they could, keeping dad comfortable and keeping his dignity throughout and always with the honour to be doing so.
Thank you Michael Sobell, Thank you to all your Nurses, Doctors, Kitchen Staff, Volunteers, Receptionist and to everyone else who made his time enjoyable. We are eternally grateful.
