Story
I was asked to take part in the 2012 Brighton Marathon by friends and it took my nearly 5 hrs to complete. I wasn't happy so I pushed myself. A year later I got injured, I wasn't happy so I gave up football (it was for the best) and pushed myself more.
In 2014 I tried again and finished in 4.00.34.. I ran 26.2 miles - 42km to miss out by 35 flipping seconds - I still to this day do not forgive myself for those extra seconds.
I was slightly put out by my failure and rashly signed up to run Bournemouth in October 2014, training went alright not great but food poisoning happened six days before the race. I'll spare you the details but lets say toilets became both my friend and enemy. The race didn't go well, I managed 14 miles before losing all my energy, reader I had failed again.
Now I was angry, no more excuses (please now think of the rocky montage). I pushed myself harder, faster, stronger to become fitter and come Brighton marathon 2015 I was ready. 3hrs 47. That is 105 minutes slower than the world record but I'm happy with what I achieved.
A lot of things happened in-between those runs and a lot has changed since Brighton 2015 - I live with men now - I have a bit of time on my hands so why not run two marathons in a week!? Even better is that I have the opportunity to raise money for Grace Eyre Foundation: www.grace-eyre.org
Total raised for Brighton 2015 was £699 and me being me I'm hoping to beat that figure so I ask you again for your hard earned money - I'm training harder this year than last, it is a running theme.
