Story
Hi there, folks.
Thanks for dropping by, please read this and if you can, take the time to sponsor me.
Here's the script...I wanted to do something for charity, specifically The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Sophie was beaten to death trying to protect her boyfriend when they were attacked by a group of youths in a park in Bacup. The reason for the attack? Nothing more than the fact they were dressed in goth style.
Information on this can be found by clicking on the link below and there's also a Youtube video you can click on further down the page in the picture gallery.
You don't need me to tell you that getting beaten to death for the way you look is something that can't be tolerated in supposedly civilised society. Most of my friends and family are all well into their rock music and dress as such but even if you and yours don't, surely you want your kids to have the choice to look how they want without the fear of being physically harmed for it? The message of tolerance and acceptance that is passed on by the foundation should hopefully go beyond subcultures and encourage tolerance to all...it's nice to be nice, yeah?
So I figured...what am I good at? Well, not much is the answer but then along came Movember. Hell, I'm pretty damned good at growing a beard so I figured no girly one-month moustache shenanigans for me...real men grow real beards!
My initial plan was to shave on Christmas Day, then not shave until New Years Day one year and one week later. My goal was to raise £500. I didn't raise that goal in time so I decided to carry on growing it until I did raise £500.
Now I have reached that goal but several people have said, "I'm not giving you any money until you shave that bloody thing off!" and so it's going on Friday 2nd October.
I'm gutted, to tell you the truth. I've got ridiculously attached to my beard, no pun intended. I love out-bearding every other also-rans, I love getting 'the nod' from other beardies, I love how it looks...I love the whole thing, so getting rid is going to pain me, but hey...it's for charity. So please, please, please, this is your last chance to donate if you haven't already. If you have, many thanks.
