In 2001, members of my family and my wife's family worked with the street children of Guatemala City.  In 2003, we arranged for the education of 15 street children.  In 2004, we set up a school for street children and for other underprivileged Guatemalan children.  In 2009, thanks to many charitable donations, we built a new school.  The school now has a population of 181 children, providing them with an opportunity for a life away from the streets and from poverty.  This school is run as a charity: details are at www.studyguatemala.com.  

Year after year, the pupils achieve outstanding educational achievements and take part in many extra-curricular activities. When they leave, students have progressed to university and have on leaving or after university taken up professional careers.  This has dramatically affected their wellbeing and that of their families.  We continue to raise money and provide support to the school to allow it to grow and make a real difference to people’s lives.

I have recorded, with an English National Opera soloist, Charles Johnston, one of the greatest lieder cycles – Schubert’s Winterreise.  The recording was made at St John Smith Square by the Classical Recording Company.  Everyone who makes a donation of £10 or more to the charity will receive a copy of the CD.  I have paid all recording and production costs, so every donation goes straight to the charity.  Plesae leave enough contact details and details of your donation so that I can make sure you receive a copy.
