On the 19th of August 2013 it will be 10 years since I lost my Dad to cancer with a brain tumour. To remember my Dads life I am taking part in a sprint triathlon 500 m swim, 20 km bike ride and 5 km run on the 25 th of August in Krefeld Germany. Also taking part in this event and helping to raise funds is two very good friends of mine Carl Lister and Derek Hanna. The reason I want to do this is to raise money for Barnsley Hospice who did a fantastic job of caring for my Dad when it was most needed. Towards the end of my Dads life he was in Barnsley hospital, and we were told he would only have seven days to live. From here he was transferred to Barnsley Hospice where he was taken into the caring hands of the Barnsley Hospice staff. After spending nearly 2 weeks in Barnsley Hospice with the best care any person could ask for, he'd recovered enough to be allowed home, and as a family we could spend some quality time together in the comfort of our family home. My Dad lived on for a further  3 weeks after getting back home, but what was eventually going to happen, happened on the 19th of August 2003. I believe if it wasn't for the special care and focused attention that my Dad recieved at that critical time in his life from Barnsley Hospice, then we would have lost him 5 weeks earlier. So please sponser us to do this triathlon not only on a personal note to me on rememberence of Kevin Brook but also to give this charity the funds it needs to continue doing it's fantastic work
