Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Great North Run in September 2016 in support of SeeAbility. In 2015 I had the pleasure of visiting SeeAbility's Heather House Nursing Home to carry out some voluntary work with a team of my HR colleagues. The hard work & dedication of the Heather House team was inspiring and the life-changing benefits to the residents (and their families) were clearly evident - so I thought I'd try and do something to help.
SeeAbility are a specialist charity supporting people with sight loss and multiple disabilities across the UK. People with this unique combination of needs require a specialist approach and that's what makes SeeAbility different.
Every day in 27 services, they directly support over 200 people who have multiple disabilities, including sight loss, learning, physical and mental health disabilities, acquired brain injury and life limiting conditions. They also work to improve eye-care for adults with learning disabilities through their advisory work.
Funding for an individuals basic support, such as washing and bathing, getting dressed and being given a meal are provided by the relevant Local Authorities. But SeeAbility's specialist work; Rehabilitation, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and their work in the local community supporting adults with learning disabilities is funded through voluntary donations.
