Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 25th September I shall be proudly wearing my Notts County Football in the Community vest, pounding the streets of Nottingham, taking part in the (full) Ikano Robin Hood Marathon.
Those of you who know me will be aware that over the last few years I have become something of a running enthusiast, albeit an asthmatic, forty-something enthusiast, who shall forever be a middle-of-the-pack runner.
I am also a long-suffering Notts County supporter (and have been for the last thirty years or so) as well as a volunteer for Notts County Football in the Community, being a member of their Board of Trustees for over ten years..
Therefore being a part of the Notts County FITC fundraising team is something of an ideal marriage for me, bringing together my passion for long-distance running and my keen interest in the incredible work that the multi-award winning charity, Notts County FC Football in the Community do.
For those of you who don't know, FITC deliver a diverse range of innovative programmes that make a tangible and positive difference to people in Nottingham, raising aspirations and supporting some of the most disadvantaged, marginalised and talented people across the city. They use the power of football and the profile of the world’s oldest football league club to provide direction and support.
The charity is committed to providing high quality, accessible and life-changing, development opportunities that change people’s health, confidence and skills, increase positive behaviours and bring enjoyment to the people they work with.
But of course as a charity, the organisation is responsible for raising all of its own funding and whilst they are hugely successful at designing innovative projects that target specific groups of local people, this funding is unsustainable in the longer term. Thus, Notts County FITC is looking increasingly at how it must now generate its own funding to maintain the projects they deliver. In addition to this, funding will enable FITC to design and develop new targeted projects, and to continue the innovative work they are involved in across the city.
By supporting me in running the Robin Hood marathon you will have directly made a positive impact towards the work Notts County FITC do within the local community, so please help us spread the message about their amazing work.
