Hi
20th May 2015 will mark the 10 year anniversary of my kidney transplant carried out by the fantastic staff at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle. I continue to receive outstanding care from both my GP and the Freeman kidney transplant team and really want to do something special to give something back to a local charity supporting kidney research. The NCKRF is a registered charity which aims to raise funds and deliver grant funding in the North of England to enable vital research into all aspects of kidney disease and transplantation. Couldn't wish for a more apt charity to fundraiser for!!
So I've decided to complete 1001 miles of exercise in aid of the NCKRF this year and after a slow winter where I've been dogged by repeat colds I've got some catching up to do! Swimming, running and cycling all count and I'll be cajoling people into supporting activity as this year progresses. I'm aiming to raise £1 a mile, so please dig deep!
I'll keep this page up to date with progress and you can follow me on Twitter @bowlingshane or using #1001miles
My thanks,
Dave
