Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Here we go again, the third and (probably!) final part of the Abigail trail.
After completing the Cotswold Way and Hadrians Wall trails we wanted to finish the trilogy a little closer to home and so will be walking the 90 mile Ridgeway in 4 days this year.
I am again doing this for ROSY, the organisation that helped get us through the cruelly short time that Abigail was with us, and continues to help even now with their ongoing friendship and support.
As some of you will know, Abigail was born with a condition called Edwards syndrome or Trisomy 18. This is a severely life limiting condition, most babies with this rarely make it through the first 24 hours as there are so many associated problems. Abigail was a fighter though and lived for 11 weeks and 2 days, eventually passing on New year's day 2008. For the first month of her life none of us left the hospital, but thanks to the help and support of George Hedges and the team at ROSY, we were able to spend the rest of the time we had at home with her, including her only Christmas.
Thank you all so much for your support for the previous 2 events, I'm just asking for one more push to help this fantastic group of people continue to carry out their good work - let's make this one a fundraising record breaker!
ROSY - Respite nursing for Oxfordshire's Sick Youngsters is an organisation that raises an awareness of the need for respite nursing and funds to boost the extremely limited resources of the Oxfordshire's Children's Respite Nursing Team, who offer respite nursing to terminally, acutely or chronically ill children and babies in their homes. Their continued support is invaluable to families in similar situations to ours and provides that extra help and friendship that you need to cope with every day. Please look them up at www.rosy.org.uk
