Story
.....an overseas event, be a nice way to end the season I thought, so it was probably fate that presented Running the Rift Marathon upon my laptop, and on the 5th November I'll be stepping out and onto another 26.2 on a different continent....Africa!
Suspect this will be hugely different to running London, and for a chunky fella who doesn't thrive in heat and humidity it's going to be testing. The endurance engine is there, the speed is lacking but its the opportunity for one of those "lifetime" experiences that sometimes you just have to grasp.
Like my last African odyssey(blimey 10 years since the Plymouth Banjul Challenge!) as an entrant you are involved in community projects, and this time it's the Kyaninga Child Development Centre supporting children with disabilities in the area and whilst I could waffle inanely about the work they do it would, in truth be a copy and paste exercise so probably best to read it all on their website which is here..
