David Gedge was Head of Music at Builth Wells High School for three decades, whilst at the same time serving as Organist and Choir Master of Brecon Cathedral 1966-2007 . He was awarded the MBE in 1994 for his dedication, and recognised by the Archbishop of Wales for services to Church Music in 1997.

As a former pupil and (briefly) Cathedral Singer I would like commemorate the enormous impact his tutelage and guidance had upon me and others around me. My love of music was fanned by his enthusiasm and passion, but that was but part of his appeal. 

The family has asked that no flowers be sent, but that anyone who wishes make a donation to The Royal Society of Musicians in his name. I also hope to facilitate something in his honour within the High School Music Department...more details as that progresses.
