Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March I was taken into hospital with a high temperature, fast heart rate and a red rash that started to appear on my chest and back. Before I knew it the rash had started to blister and had spread over my face and most of my body. I was put on multiple anti biotics and fluids as they had no idea what was wrong and had a catheter fitted.
I was told the blisters might of been caused by an infection which by now had spread to my lung. A few days later after a biopsy on one of my blisters I was told it was steven Johnson syndrome. I wasn't told any more information other than it was very rare, the blisters would eventually heal over time and the level of infection was going down.
I spent 12 days at Monkland hospital in March, 6 weeks before my wedding. In those 12 days I missed my hen night, dress fitting and had my birthday.
It has taken me months to feel back to normal and not constantly panic that it will come back. I have finally got more energy and all my marks are mostly faded. To celebrate this I have decided to do a charity walk up the cobbler for sjs awarness charity and hope you'll be able to help.
I have chosen to raise money for this charity to help them meet their goals of making more people aware of steven johnson syndrome and offer support to other people like me. I was lucky to not have any complications but I know other people aren't as lucky. So I would be very grateful if you could make a small donation to help.
Thanks
Dawn :)
