 Deans story

Dean was born in 1989, we lived in Adlington for the first 5 years of his life, he attended Adlington pre school playgroup and Anderton day nursery, when he was 5 he went to Anderton Primary school, then we moved to Horwich, he continued to attend school in Anderton but at 11 he moved to Rivington and Blackrod High School.  He left school at 16 and became an apprentice electrician for a company called Eurotec in Warrington.  Dean loved football both playing and watching.  He was a manager of a 5 a side team at Bolton Arena and supported Bolton Wanderers.

Our son and brother Dean Thompson  was treated on the Young oncology Unit at the Christie Hospital from April 07 - May 08 . All treatment failed and he sadly died on the 13th May 08 aged 19 years.

Dean was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in April 07 and fought long and hard throughout the treatment (chemo and radiotherapy) never once complaining - even when so much chemo caused his kidneys to fail - resulting in having dialysis (Hope Hospital) for the last 4 months of his life.

Dean loved life so much enjoying most sports but especially football.

We really miss him (Gary (dad) Diane (mum) and Becky aged 23 (sister))

Any money will be well spent on equipment on the Young Oncology Unit at Christies.
