Debbie was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 30. After a lumpectomy and radiotherapy, she was clear for 16 years. However, we were devastated to discover that a new cancer had developed in the other breast at age 46. After a double mastectomy and being told that she was again clear from the disease, we were distraught to be told 5 years later that the cancer had in fact spread to the bone and liver, this time making the illness terminal. In October 2014, an action chemotherapy plan was put in place to hold back the disease and prolong her life for as long as possible. Unfortunately in January 2016, our Debbie was told she had a few weeks to live. Despite this, she battled on for another 3 months with determination and fighting spirit.
After a courageous long battle, our beautiful Debbie passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, 18th April surrounded by her family. She was a wonderful wife to her husband Kevin and a much loved mother to Grace and Natalie. Our hearts are broken that such an inspirational, kind & thoughtful lady has been taken away from us at the age of 52. She will be deeply missed by the whole family and friends.
We would very much appreciate any donations you could provide to The Martlets, the hospice Debbie spent her final 4 days with the family by her side. The care and support they provided was outstanding throughout, we don't know how we would have coped without them.
Thank you for your support.
