Story

Update 10/08/15:

Mum sadly passed away in the morning of the 8th August.

She fought bravely and courageously and her story is one to inspire not only her family and friends but strangers alike.

Her main aim, from the moment of diagnosis, was to help others - there are not many in this life who have the strength to do this.

The Hospice brought great comfort to her; and to us, her family in her final days and the care they gave us, but most importantly her, was second to none. I cannot truly express my gratitude - words are simply not enough.

To all who donated, helped mum to raise money, supported us - from the bottom of our hearts - thank you.

Update, 15/01/15:

Mum successfully held her fundraising evening raising over £800. My lovely little sister organised a sponsored walk, of which some fabulous people joined us. Money wonderfully keeps trickling in and we are so grateful.

This page was set up in an effort to help our Mum in her goal of raising as much money as possible for St Catherine's Hospice and my sister & I are still coming up with ideas to help to raise even more.

Your donations, support and words mean more than I can express so from the bottom of my heart we thank you.

As alot of you know, our wonderful, selfless mother is not only an amazing person, she also does a truly inspiring job.

She has been a Palliative Care Nurse at St Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough for almost 11 years and has taken care of many local people.

Nobody ever wishes to have to use the Hospice, but sadly some of us may need to.

The Hospice is run entirely on donations & monies raised and is a registered Charity.

It takes a special type of person to work at a Hospice and they have a huge team of clerical staff, Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Doctors, Cleaners, Fundraisers, and other staff, along with many volunteers.

Now is the time for our Mum, Debbie Keld to start her fight against a T-Cell Lymphoma, a rare type of cancer.

As always, she has not paused to think about herself, but instead think of how she can use this opportunity to help others.

She will be shaving her head (just after starting chemotherapy) and would like to raise as much money as possible. Whatever you can donate, be it a little, or a lot, is hugely appreciated.

Those that know Debbie will truly understand the extent of which she puts other people first - lets help her now, by raising as much as we can, for the Charity and Job that she loves.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
