Story
Hello everyone!
First of all
I would just like to say thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page as I attempt to run the London Marathon in 2016.
Running a marathon has been a major goal of mine for many years now and to be given the opportunity to run the biggest marathon of them all is a very exciting prospect for me. What makes it even more special is that I am running on behalf of the brilliant Disability Law Service (DLS).
DLS started out in 1975 as a charity run by disabled people on a voluntary basis. Due to demand for its advice and legal services it grew quickly, received funding and was able to employ full time solicitors.
Today DLS still provides specialist high quality advice for all disabled people, their families and carers with free daily telephone advice sessions. Also, in addition to consulting with the government on key disability legislation, DLS continues to win judgments that help to improve the lives and life chances of disabled people.
Because DLS is a charity they have limited funding and rely heavily on donations, in recent years they have been unable to provide advice in certain areas of law as some of their funding has been cut. It is for this reason that any donation I receive, no matter how big or small, will be vitally important to the work the Disability Law Service carries out.
Thank you in advance,
Declan
