Story
I've never been much of an outdoor enthusiast. Nor would I consider myself to be a very active individual. However, over the past year I've developed an increasing interest in my general fitness through long walks and hiking.
Four years ago I successfully lost over 3 and a half stone in weight and I've managed to to maintain that through regular exercise - often managing combined distances of 25-30 km covered weekly.
After hearing several accounts from friends who had walked the Camino I wanted to experience it myself, and along with my newfound love of walking it is probably the best opportunity I'll have to try it.
I plan to walk the final one hundred and eleven kilometres of the route; beginning on Sunday September 25th in Sarria, Northern Spain and finishing in Santiago de Compostela six days later.
After careful consideration I have decided to dedicate this experience to the Irish Kidney Association and to fund raise on their behalf. The Irish Kidney Association are responsible for organ donation awareness and patient support across the country. Promoting this organisation is something very close to me and more particularly to a very important person in my life.
