You may not have been aware that our little girl Caoimhe was very seriously ill when she arrived a little early when she was born back in 2012.
We had just gotten her home for the first time when we realised that her right leg was a funny shade of blue. We got her to hospital and the medics in Sligo transferred her to Crumlin. The team there diagnosed Caoimhe as having a renal vein thrombosis, which in laymans terms meant that she had a clot on one of her kidneys that was blocking blood flow to her leg. She also had a very serious infection, so the upshot was she was quite ill. The irony now is that if she hadn't arrived two weeks early it's unlikely she would have survived.
The team in Crumlin (and her Mammy)were incredible, with a multi skilled team from Cardiology,Haematology and renal teams all combining to help us bring our little lady home safe and well after ten fraught days.
Thankfully now Caoimhe is thriving and the team in Crumlin continue to monitor her progress on a yearly basis
Crumlin is a very humbling place to be when you see the professionalism and care of the teams and the different challenges that the little folks have to face...the recent RTE documentary explains things better than I ever could...http://www.rte.ie/tv/programmes/crumlin.html
So, when it comes to fundraising, the thoughts of me doing a marathon (or really anything related to lycra) weren't really going to be on the cards, so my challenge is to try and replicate something that one of the older Lynch's had been sporting for years.... A big Hairy ignorant Mo!
So, join me on the journey for the next month and have a laugh at my expense and remember the little folks in Crumlin :)
Thanks in advance
