In memory of Kidney Cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As a child the word Cancer was rarely heard, no one suffered or was affiliated or even died of cancer back then….or so we thought anyway. On the seldom occasion where you would hear that word being spoken it was something you never associated with a member of your family, a friend or even just someone in your neighbourhood as you would think that no-one you knew could or would suffer with cancer. Sad thing is that we grow up thinking the same way. Now the rarity of hearing the dreaded word has gone out the window and everywhere we turn it seems we cannot get away from it, well at least I feel that way, think about it……the reality never really sets in until it actually hits home.

In the past few years I have lost an Aunt, my cousins’ husband, a good neighbour, and a good ole school mate to mention a few.

The one thing in common here is not only the disease they all suffered with but that one thing which is common about this is that feeling of helplessness, which takes hold of you every time, from the instant you learn they were diagnosed with cancer to the day you learn that they had lost the battle and succumbed to the dreaded disease. Hopefully one day we would be able to develop a cure for this dreaded disease and we could only achieve that with the continuous research into developing a cure and this I think may be the only way to get rid of that helpless feeling and help fight the battle against cancer.

This site is dedicated to  my family, friends and to all I have been acquainted who have lost the battle with cancer:- Aunty Lynette, Hendron, Vilma Homer, Richard and the dearest, kindest, funny and fun loving June…..Gone but will never be forgotten.

British Friends of Bar-Ilan University, a registered UK Charity, contributes to the fight of Kidney Cancer. Research in Bar-Ilan University is progressive and its main aim is personalised treatment and cure. Many patients globally previously considered untreatable have now new hopes. Bar-Ilan University's scientists conduct cutting-edge research collaborating with 6 hospitals. The labs offers several different technologies that aim to improve the process of selecting the best drug therapy for the individual patient, focusing on those cancer patients who are the hardest to treat.
