Story
Hello everyone,
Thanks for taking time to visit my JustGiving Page.
At the end of April I'll be joining other volunteers from all around the UK on a mission to build a small (but not insignificant) dam in Sinai, Egypt.
The mountains of Sinai are a fabulously beautiful place, with rocky valleys dotted with ancient gardens in which the Bedouin grow a vast array of fruit and vegetables. Owing to years of drought, the gardens are slowly dying and the Bedouin are being forced to give up their sustainable way of life. A small dam high up the valleys, however, can store the modest amounts of rain that does occasionally come and makes a difference to the 30 or so gardens and families below.
The series of small dams built by the Makhad Trust are making a big difference to this traditional way of life and the money raised with go directly towards purchasing the materials required to build Gwoona Dam.
If you have any spare cash in these austere times – even a couple of quid – I would be most grateful of your support.
Thanks ever so much,
Diana x
