Cancer comes in all shapes or forms. Most importantly, cancer has an affect on not only diagnosed individuals but the families too. 

My journey began with a lump on my neck that I wasn't aware of until it was pointed out to me. Having been diagnosed two different types of cancer; stage 3 Follicular thyroid cancer and early stage papillary thyroid cancer. I have undergone 2 operations since and was very recently shocked to discover that I had 3 tumours growing in my neck.

Thyroid cancer is a very rare cancer which not many people are aware of. It can affect you in several ways and you can undergo different types of treatments. I had found out the severity of my cancer once I had my operations. Though it is not as severe as other cancer types it stills affects you emotionally and physically. 

On having found out my diagnosis, at first it was unbelievable and has gradually hit me. It's not something I ever expected to happen to me but you never do. I await my radiotherapy, I cannot help but feel for all those families that go through this traumatic experience. 

Having received treatment from excellent doctors and and support from my family, I've managed to remain emotionally strong throughout my journey. I remind myself everyday that I am very lucky, as there are people suffering more so than I have done. Cancer is a dreaded word. But I just want to say that we shouldn't be scared and we should embrace these illnesses with a positive attitude, after all we are getting closer to finding a cure.
