We are York's largest animal home to find abused animals their own family

Story

To help celebrate 150 years of York RSPCA I am hoping to continue the "selfie" craze that is sweeping the nation but this time instead of "no makeup selfies" we are after photos of your pets!

Post a photo of your dog, cat or any other animal in a "selfie" pose to your Facebook page and donate your chosen amount to help raise funds for York RSPCA. You can either donate through this page or text DSYR50 followed by £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to the number 70070.

Please share far and wide - all the animals at York RSPCA thank you! xxx

(Huge thank you to Frances Plant - a dedicated York RSPCA volunteer - for the fab idea!)

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the pet selfies fundraiser so far. The staff at York RSPCA would like to spend the money directly on the animals and will be looking into purchasing items such as a new puppy transporter trolley, training leads and harnesses for the dogs, heavy duty mattress beds for the kennels, beds and scratching posts for the cats and other items to help improve the animals stay at the centre until they find their forever homes.

The RSPCA has been caring for animals in the York area since 1864. There is an animal centre which cares for dogs, cats and small animals until a new home can be found for them. This can take months, or even years for some pets as no rehomeable animal is ever put to sleep.
