Story

Dolton Philip was a fantastic husband, father of 2, brother, uncle, friend & much more to many people.

He met his wife Cheryl, when he was just 19 years old, they got married four years later and were happily married for over 40 years.

Dolton was a driving instructor for over 30 years, havying patience to put up with many dodgy drivers and near misses on the roads.

His great passion in life was karate where he reached black belt status before becoming an instructor himself.

He practiced for 37 years and was a "karate dad" to hundreds of kids over the years, many of whom still took part with him till his illness took over.

In October 2012 Dalton started feeling unwell and tire easily due to flu like symptoms. After several courses of antibiotics that had no effect he started to noticeably lose weight and in April he was admitted to hospital after a severe coughing fit. The Dr's performed lots of test's but we're unable to determine the cause of his illness.

Finally in May 2013, he was diagnosed with having cancer but it wasn't until July that he started to undertake chemotherapy. Four hospitals, numerous specialist's and consultants later, the source of his cancer was never found.

Sadly on March 1st 2014 Dolton passed away surrounded by friends & family in a room full of love.

Cancer is an awful disease that affects millions of people worldwide but when the source of the cancer isn't found, it adds confusion and is arguably even more frightening.

This is why we've chosen to support Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) and we hope to raise awareness and as much money as possible for research.

Although we can no longer see Dolton, his life touched ours forever and he will always be with us in our hearts.

R.I.P. Dolton. We love you and will miss you forever. xXx

About the charity

Cancer of Unknown Primary affects about 10,000 people in the UK each year. To be told that you, or a loved one, has cancer but that the type is unknown - information that is fundamental to treatment - is a double blow. We offer information & support; and promote research into improved diagnosis.
