Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

12th April 2016 marked the 20th anniversary of the loss of a cherished father, husband, uncle, brother, son and friend - Don. Don sustained fatal head injuries after a serious fall whilst looking after his neighbours property. He was transferred to the Royal Victoria Intensive Care Unit where he was under the expert supervision of the amazing critical care team. Dad spent 24 hours on life support before his machine was turned off.He was just 40 years old and left behind a young family. His children aged 6 and 8 and his young wife.

Don was a unique, special man to us all. The impact of his loss has been great but now in his honour, we want to give back to the Royal Intensive Care Unit, whose support we are deeply grateful and indebted to. The care, support and guidance from ICU staff were invaluable surrounding the tragic circumstances. As a result, our awareness deepened of the extent of the Royal ICU services and dedication to supporting individuals in life threatening situations.

Family and friends of Don are undertaking the Seven Peak Mourne Mountain Challenge on Saturday 3rd September 2016 in a bid to provide funds to support vital life saving services and equipment for the Royal Intensive Care Unit.

Any and all donations greatly appreciated.
