Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 1994 I was so badly-burned that no one thought that I would live. Now in 2016 I have confounded all the doubters because I am alive and well. From being the “Most Badly Burned Girl in the World to Survive,” I have become the champion of other burns survivors. But every day feels as hard as walking on knives, because of the revulsion some people demonstrate towards those of us who are disfigured. I love my family, my church, my friends, my community. I was shocked by a head teacher of a Sevenoaks school who in 2015 called me “Macabre,” because I am a living human being. The insults that I have to bear are equally cruel for other burns survivors. So please sponsor me to walk the GreatFire350 route on 2 September 2016. The money that I raise will help burned children to get surgery, rehabilitation and a better quality of life. To walk 13 miles is a small distance in relation to life’s long journey; with a sighted guide I hope to make it to the end.
