Story

Hi,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I have been involved with the Marie Keating Foundation as a
board member for over a year now and have great belief in the
importance of their work and impact in the area of cancer awareness and support. This year I am joining the team on this walk covering the last 115kms of the Portuguese Way, finishing up in Santiago de
Compostela. If you would like to lend your support it would be much
appreciated. As I am funding my own costs anything you give will go
directly to the work of Foundation enabling them to provide vital services such as:

Mobile Information Units each staffed by a registered nurse which travel the country. In 2015, the nurses reached over 22,000 people on cancer prevention & health promotion.

Cancer Awareness Campaigns such as information on how to prevent or spot symptoms of common cancers such as breast, lung, skin, bowel and prostate cancer.

Schools Cancer Awareness Programme which promotes cancer awareness among secondary school students. 113 schools took part in this free programme in 2015.

The Comfort Fund which provides financial assistance to people who are currently receiving treatment for any kind of cancer and who, as a result, find themselves in financial difficulty. Over 350 families were helped by the Comfort Fund in 2015.

Thank you again for your support,
Edel

About the charity

Following their mother Marie’s death in 1998 from breast cancer, Ronan & the Keating family promised to try to provide men, women & their families with vital information which could help them to prevent cancer or detect it at its earliest stages.
