Story

Update - Well we did it! Harder than we thought, but great fun and really rewarding, and with your help we have raised a fantastic amount for the Emily Jordan Foundation. Hopefully have some action shots to post soon.

We knew we were off to the best possible start when the severe storm warnings hit for the night before, but we would have taken rain over sunshine for this any day, we needed mud! The course was really picturesque, over lots of hills and woods, and into muddy bogs.  Big thanks to Bear in anchoring the running and setting a steady pace, to make sure we got round. The obstacles were great fun, with more than a couple really pushing us out of our comfort zone, jumping into ice cold water, falling off ridiculous monkey bars into brown stuff and getting zapped and losing my vision (they were 10,000 volts)! Duff used all his army training to show us how real men crawl on their beer bellies, and powered on through after pulling his back after 6 miles.

But the highlight, (as well as completing the course with a great bunch of guys and raising money for a good cause), was Duff getting knocked out by Electroshock Therapy (it did pack a punch), flying 5m and falling flat on his face to complete the course. Unfortunately me and Bear were laughing so hard we could not help him (sorry Duff),  but the really worried marshals did!

Do you want to see me suffer? run through 12 miles of mud and punishing obstacles? be zapped with 10,000 volts in Electro-shock therapy? (I really hope 10,000 is a exaggeration) and feel good about supporting a great cause? Well donate button is up there, what are you waiting for?

Oh, and my employer will match up to £1000, so your generosity goes even farther!

We are taking part in the tough mudder obstacle / torture event in order to raise funds for the Emily Jordan Foundation. Its a fantastic local charity that supports people with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling lives through employment opportunities. Its an incredibly rewarding initiative that completely transforms the lives of those it helps, and every £ makes a real difference! Please take a moment to take see their amazing work on their website: http://www.theemilyjordanfoundation.org.uk

For those of you who don't know what tough mudder is, take a look at the following Electro shock therapy video link and see what we are in for:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKjTqFoOlDQ

I've never done any endurance events before, we did the half 5m course earlier in the year to see what we were getting ourselves in for, pretty hard for 3 middle aged, out of shape, tubby chaps, this one is over twice as long and with bigger meaner obstacles, could be a tough day.

If you need any further encouragement, if hit my stretch target of £1000, i'll do the electro shocks in just my shorts!
