Story

I and my family have been deeply involved with the Furniture Makers Company since its inception in 1951. My grandfather, my uncles and myself have all been Masters of the Company. I am now the Chairman of the Trustees so felt obliged to take part in this fund raising trip! Our Company provides support and encouragement for people in our Industry from school children through to those retired from a lifetime of work. We provide bursaries for students and training to young people in our Industry. We sponsor awards for excellence in design and manufacturing. As I have never cycled in my life before, these 400 miles are quite a challenge, but as I became a grandfather for the first time at the age of 66 to twin boys in February of this year I decided I needed to do something to make sure that when they are 10 years old I can still be of some use to them!
