Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This is Brian Leslie Harry Godfrey, he was my daddy.
Following a sterling effort from all of you last year Suzanne and I have been asked by the PSP Association to run the London Marathon. We are in serious training now and need your help to get us to the finish line and help find a cure for this terrible disease which took my dad from us back in February last year.
PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) is a rare and incredibly hideous degenerative brain disease with (at the moment) no cure. It completely destroyed not only my dad's life, it ultimately took mum away too early (she was dad's carer and the stress and strain of looking after a 6 foot tall man who couldn't walk unaided, bathe, dress, look after himself took it's toll on mum and she suffered a massive fatal heart attack nearly 2 years ago).
My dear dad, sadly died last February from the ravaging effects of this disease (his mind and body went, a six foot tall brilliant man reduced to less than 6 stone with a brain of 'jelly')
Our family was ripped apart in 9 months. After dad passed away we donated his brain to the brain bank for research, so he may be gone but his brilliant brain remains, helping others (he would have liked that). My very good friend Suzanne Glowala and I are running the London Marathon in aid of the PSP Association, please donate to help support those who are suffering from this dreadful disease and hopefully find a cure in the future.
Please take a moment to visit the PSP Association website for further information on this horrible disease.
