Story
Thankyou for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
My name is Eleanor Hopkins; I’m 17 years old and entering into the final year of 6th form at Cheadle Hulme School. After that year I will be taking a year overseas with the registered charity Project Trust to do primary teaching in Honduras.
Although I won't know for definite where in South/Central America I will be going until I get my letter confirming my final placement in March 2015, Honduras is my most likely destination!
I decided to take a year out with Project Trust as I wanted to experience a culture entirely different from my own, improve my Spanish speaking skills and most importantly to participate in and make a positive difference to a developing community. I’m extremely excited to go and experience a completely different life for a year, to teach young children and to become part of a community. I love teaching, and working with children in particular so having the chance to do this for a whole year is an incredible opportunity.
To go I’ll need to raise £5900 for Project Trust. I plan to set up fundraising events throughout the year to work towards my target, but I need as much help as possible! Your money will be going towards a worthy cause as about 50% of the population, approximately 3.7 million people, still remain below the poverty line in Honduras. Accessing education, particularly the ability to communicate in English, changes the lives of young people in Honduras allowing them to gain employment and independence; therefore English speaking volunteers in primary teaching are greatly appreciated. As I will be going for an entire year, I will have the chance to make a real difference, and hopefully start various secondary projects as well, such a music class.
Any donation, big or small, will be appreciated!
