Story

On 12th February 2015, I will be setting off to take on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money for The Walton Centre in Liverpool.
The Walton Centre is a specialist neurology centre and it it is here that my Dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2008. My Dad, Harry was rushed to hospital after experiencing a seizure which was brought on by a brain tumour. After his diagnosis, Dad underwent an operation to remove his tumour. The treatment and care provided by the Walton Centre was excellent and this was so important at such a difficult time.
Dad fought a long and courageous battle but sadly lost his fight in 2010. Throughout his illness, Dad was so positive and the courage he showed during this time was inspiring.
The trek will be a gruelling 6 day climb and I'm sure there will be moments to challenge me and when they do I will think of the courage that my Dad showed to will me on.
This year cancer has affected my family and friends again. My grandad, Harold Smith, my aunty in law, Sandra Knight and my friend Sue Brookes all lost their fight with cancer. Sue was also treated at the Walton Centre.  Cancer effects us all in one way or another and the care and support provided by places like the Walton Centre are invaluable to patients and families. So please dig deep to support this worthy cause.

Thank you for your support,

Liz xxxx
