Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are fundraising for the CJD Support Network, because we have a very close friend; Jessie who has been diagnosed with CJD at the young age of eighteen.

CJD is Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease and Is one of a group of rare brain disorders known as prion diseases. CJD is a fatal disease, most people affected by CJD usually pass away within a year, however sometimes the disease can last a lot longer. CJD usually only affects people over the age of 55, our beautiful friend Jessie is only 18.

The CJD Support Network’s aims are:

To offer support to individuals and families concerned with all forms of CJD.

To provide emotional support for carers and to link families with similar experiences
of all forms of CJD.

To offer financial support for families in need.

To provide accurate, unbiased and up to-date information and advice about all forms of CJD.

To provide a national helpline on all forms of CJD.

To promote good quality care for people with all forms of CJD.

To promote research into all forms of CJD and the dissemination of research findings.

To develop a public response for all forms of CJD

We want to help this charity so that they can keep on supporting the families and individuals suffering, and also so that more research into the disease can be done, so that perhaps one day a cure could be found. This is why we are setting ourselves the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro, this cause is extremely dear to us and we will appreciate any donation big or small.
