Story

It is rare for me to struggle to find something to say, however, in this instance I find myself at a loss. As you will no doubt know, last December our beautiful second child Joseph, was stillborn. At this awful time, we were cared for by the team on the Geoffrey Hammond ward at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital. We were given access to the Hill View suite which was to become home for us for Joseph's birth.

It may not seem like an important detail but use of the suite meant that whilst we were on the labour ward, we did not have to deal with other families who were there for the birth of their babies.  The suite allowed us to feel more comfortable and gave us much needed space for us to gather our thoughts and strength. It also meant that after Joseph was delivered, we could spend some very precious time with him, as could his grandparents and aunt and uncle.

I cannot imagine how much worse the situation would have been if there had been no option but for us to deliver Joseph on the ward alongside all the other mothers. Honestly, I really don't think I would have coped.

The suite is in need of refurbishment and as a thank you to the team at the hospital and for all those families in the future who will unfortunately go through the same experience, we would like to help raise funds to ensure the suite can remain open and fulfil its role as a refuge for families at a desperately sad point in their lives.

Your donation doesn't have to be much, just whatever you can afford please as it really will help.
