Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Ellena's JustGiving page.

Ellena was born at 32 + 2 weeks at 3.7 pounds.  During her stay Ellena became stronger and stronger because of the wonderful support from the staff. Sadly at 2 weeks old she developed stage 2 NEC which is a potentially life threatening problem that affects the gut. The nurses spotted it promptly and Ellena was treated in intensive care and recovered fully without needing surgery.

Whilst there we shared the highs and lows with these amazing staff. This page is not only for Ellena but for all those special care babies that get to come home because of this wonderful place!

Ellena and all of the babies are so strong and tough through everything they have to deal with. We will never be able to thank the staff enough for all they do everyday. They are some of the most compassionate and caring people we have ever met. Not only did they keep our daughter safe and well they are supported us and all the other parents struggling to deal with day to day stresses of having our babies in special care.

There will never be enough words or chocolate to ever thank them enough but there are things that the unit needs to offer the best support to families and babies that need this amazing care and to help ensure they are able to continue giving the best care and support possible.

I'm  asking you to help us attempt to say thank you for keeping Ellena and the other babies safe, well and getting her closer to coming home everyday. Please give generously or organise an event or do something crazy. Lots of love and thank you!
