Story
Hi,
My Bar Mitzvah is in under five weeks. My torah reading includes the story of Abraham welcoming strangers and showing them hospitality, so I thought a good way to mark my Bar Mitzvah would be by raising funds for refugees.
I've decided to sleep outdoors in my succah for a few nights. I know it will be cold, but I will sleep under the table so I don't get wet if it rains. Hopefully the three foxes that live in our neighbour's garden will leave me alone!
I'm raising funds for World Jewish Relief. They normally focus on supporting Jews in need, but in the current refugee crisis they are providing a Jewish response to those fleeing war in Syria, Iraq, and Libya. They have a number of projects supporting refugees - in countries neighbouring those they come from, and in the European countries they have fled to. WJR providers food, shelter and funds for education of children.
