We Promote a natural aural approach to Improve the lives of deaf child

Story

My youngest, Sam, is now 5 and he has a wonderful friend Freddie. Freddie and Sam have a brilliant time together, always laughing, talking, joking and plotting their next light-sabre ambush on unsuspecting parents. The incredible thing about their friendship is how much they talk to each other given that just 3 weeks after he was born, Freddie was diagnosed as being profoundly deaf.

Freddie has undergone two cochlea implants which have provided him with some ability to hear, but it is far from perfect. What DELTA has done is to provide the skills and support for his parents and family to encourage Freddie to listen and talk. That support, their approach and a lot of hard work has meant that Fred's deafness does not hinder his participation in a vibrant, small boy life filled with talk of Asterix and spaceships.

I'm asking you to sponsor me to raise money for DELTA so that support is available for all families with deaf children who would like their children to learn to listen and talk.

Thank you.

About the charity

DELTA believes that the vast majority of deaf children can learn to listen and talk and that all parents of deaf children should be given this option. It's aim is to promote the education of hearing impaired children through their residual hearing capacity and naturally spoken language.
